The shoes really enjoyed the Lydia tales last year, so a trip to the statue that inspired the whole series seemed like a great idea today. They were in awe.
Actually, there was a lady in the church who decided to come over and tell us a whole bunch of stuff about how the church was remodeled, etc. The shoes were on the floor by my feet, and I was trying really hard to "hide" them. I really didn't want to be disrespectful. She kept talking and I kept shielding the shoes. She finally left, and I could snap a quick picture.
And then it was on to mom's birthday party. She really liked her cake. So did Mia Farrow (sitting next to her). Just kidding. That isn't really Mia Farrow - just my sister who thinks she looks like Mia Farrow. Play along, okay?

My mom is the best sport in the entire world. She is a total goof who loves a joke or something off the wall. When asked to pose with the shoes, she cooperated 150%. What a cool mom!

My friend, Jean, showed up. I have a lot more to share about our time with her, but that will be tomorrow. All I can say is it involved a mortuary. For now, here is Jean enjoying the shoes.

And then it was time for mom to actually wear the shoes. She did NOT want to be overlooked. So we put her in the shoes for a very cute picture, eh?

It was a delightful day celebrating mom's 92nd birthday. We had cake and many, many laughs. She taught me everything I know about having a good time.
I love my mom.
