So...San Diego makes the news again. This time, high school officials pulled a hoax on their students and told them their friends had been killed by drunk drivers. Wow! Funny funny there, eh? I guess they wanted to hammer home a point. There are other ways. What jerkazoids! I've had some really bad ideas in the past, but I have never feigned the death of others. One of my classmates and her boyfriend were killed by a drunk driver when we were in our first year of high school. She sneaked out to meet her boyfriend and they were hit head-on about six miles from her house. When her father was located and told the news, he assured the officers that his daughter was home in bed. I will never forget hearing that news the next morning. We had gathered to travel to a speech tournament and were standing in the hall waiting for the bus when the priest arrived to tell us. Death is awful enough without pretending.
So it's Friday. I am so unmotivated and aimless right now. The road trip was great, but it also made me realize how much I want to change the scope of my work and the way I do it. Right now, I am working with false promises and too many expectations. I like what I do, but it is just too much for one person. I am holding the highest thoughts for graceful and productive change.
