Ahoy, ye scurvy dogs!

Scurvy Dogs

May 16, 2008

I happen to think this is really funny.

Nemesis

This cartoon spawned a whole chunk of other ideas and wonderments about how we use language.

For example......

Logically, the opposite of nonchalant should be CHALANT. Yes? But it isn't. CHALANT is not a word. So let's make it so, eh?

chalant....from Olde Englishe "chala" (nude cherub skipping through wildflowers during ancient Druidic ceremonies)...light-hearted as a nude cherub skipping through wildflowes during ancient Druidic ceremonies

Continuing......

The opposite of nonplussed should be PLUSSED. Yes? But it isn't. PLUSSED is not a word. So here we go again.

plussed....from the French "plussier"....good at fractions

I swear, creating language isn't as hard as some people would want you to believe. You just have to think outside the box....er....the syntax. One needs to let one's synapses (neener) unleash themselves and simply have fun with words.

Ahhhhhh.......don't you just love language?
